American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist – First Assist with proficiency in orthopedics, da Vinci robotics, and neurosurgery for a hospital OR position in Salem, VA.

Details

• Work in a 10-room main OR at a hospital in Salem, VA
• First Assist role with a 1:1 patient ratio
• Each OR is staffed with one circulator and one surgical tech
• Procedures include craniotomy, spine fusion, liver resection, Whipple, and MAKO total joint replacement
• Documents in Meditech EMR
• 10-hour shifts from 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM with rotating weeknight and weekend call
• No floating required
• Scrubs are provided

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist – First Assist
• Must have active experience within the last 6 months in the role
• Proficiency in orthopedics, orthopedic trauma, da Vinci robotics, and neurosurgery required
• CST certification required; Virginia state licensure as a First Assist with the Board of Medicine required
• License required if applicable
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC required (must not expire within the first 30 days of the assignment start)
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Assist surgeons as a first assistant during a variety of complex surgical procedures including craniotomy, spine fusion, and total joint replacement
• Collaborate closely with circulating nurses and surgical team members in a well-staffed OR environment
