American Traveler is seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a night shift position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring prior travel experience and CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA certification.

Details

• Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds
• Sterile Processing department with potential rotation to sister campuses including CSC, ART, or West Campus
• Handles a wide range of specialty equipment including neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, and GYN instrumentation
• Performs sterilization, decontamination, assembly/wrap, high-level disinfection (HLD), scope/probe reprocessing, flexible endoscope reprocessing, and sets/trays assembly
• Processes specialty equipment across cardiac, ortho, neuro/crani, laparoscopic, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, plastics, urology, dental, and transplant categories
• Uses Epic EMR
• Night shift: 5x8s, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Rotating weekends required
• Holiday rotation required
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs; may float to sister campuses

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of sterile processing experience required
• Prior travel assignment experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Level I Trauma experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• CBSPD and/or IAHCSMM/HSPA (HSPA) certification required
• Hands-on experience with sterilization, decontamination, and instrument assembly/wrapping
• Experience with case cart preparation, scope reprocessing (flexible endoscopes, bronchoscopes, enteroscopes, fiber optics), and use of washers/sterilizers
• SSN and valid driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• This position is a temp-to-perm opportunity
• Completes pre-start orientation modules (approximately 4 hours) prior to assignment start
• Candidates who have previously worked as permanent or PRN staff at any MUSC location must have been separated from the MUSC system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to consideration — no RTO will be approved after the contract is signed
• Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted on a case-by-case basis; non-local candidates are prioritized
• Travelers may be assigned to an inclement weather response team (Team A or B) per facility management
• During hurricane season (June–November), all staff and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
• Parking is available nights and weekends with a one-time $20 fee for a parking pass
