American Traveler is hiring a Sterile Processing Technician for an evening shift position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring at least 2 years of SPT experience and prior travel experience.

• Work setting is an 820-bed Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital
• Sterile Processing department handles a wide range of surgical specialties including neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, and GYN cases
• Evening shift: 5x8s, 3:00 PM–11:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• Holiday rotation is required
• No weekend requirement
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required, and may include reassignment to the CSC, Main, or West Campus
• Epic EMR is used

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience required
• Prior travel assignment experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Level I Trauma Center experience required
• Teaching hospital experience required
• CBSPD or IAHCSMM/HSPA (HSPA) certification required
• Experience in sterilization, decontamination, and instrument assembly/wrapping required
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include decontamination, assembly, wrapping, and sterilization of surgical instruments and specialty equipment across a broad range of surgical specialties
• Scope reprocessing includes flexible endoscopes, bronchoscopes, enteroscopes, and fiber optics
• Specialty equipment processing covers cardiac, ENT, general, laparoscopic, neuro, OB/GYN, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastics, robotics, transplant, urology, and dental instrumentation
• High-level disinfection (HLD), use of washers/sterilizers, and immediate-use steam sterilization (IUSS) are part of regular responsibilities
• Pre-start orientation modules must be completed before the assignment begins
• Candidates who have previously worked as permanent or PRN staff at any facility within the MUSC system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; no RTO will be approved after the contract is signed
• Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized, and local candidates are considered on a case-by-case basis
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
• Parking is free during nights and weekends; a one-time $20 payment is required for a parking pass
