American Traveler is seeking a certified Sterile Processing Technician for a day-shift position at a large, high-volume off-site reprocessing center in Bethpage, NY, supporting 9 facilities including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers.

• Large, off-site reprocessing center providing sterile processing services for 9 facilities, including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers
• Facility also serves as an emergency services resource for the surrounding area
• Day shift, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Rotation through all areas of the department is required, including decontamination
• Equipment used includes STERIS washers and autoclaves
• Charting/tracking system: SynergyTrak

Requirements

• CRCST or CSPD certification required; must remain active and unexpired throughout the duration of the assignment
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2 years of certified SPT experience in a tertiary setting, OR 1 year of certified experience combined with 4 years of total SPT experience in a tertiary setting
• Experience operating washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, and heat sealers
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs and stand, bend, and reach for extended periods
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• Two professional references rated 'standard or above average' from a manager or above within the prior year
• License required if applicable

Additional Information

• Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, reassembles, and packages sterile supplies per manufacturer instructions and department protocols
• Operates washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, and heat sealers during sterilization procedures
• Adheres to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts
• Retrieves used trays, instruments, and equipment from surgical and clinical areas for decontamination
• Examines instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality; reports malfunctions to supervisor or biomedical engineer
• Assists with ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels
• Facility-laundered scrubs are provided; personal laundering is not permitted
• Appropriate footwear, hair, beard, and jewelry coverings are required; nail polish is not permitted
• Free parking is available on-site
