American Traveler is hiring a Sleep Technologist with RPSGT/CPSGT credentials and an Associate's degree or higher to perform comprehensive polysomnographic studies on a night shift contract.

Details

• Night shift hours from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
• 13-week contract
• Cardiopulmonary/Sleep department within a community hospital setting
• Responsibilities span the full sleep study workflow including electrode application, polysomnogram monitoring, CPAP/BiPAP therapy, and data staging and scoring
• Scoring performed in accordance with AASM guidelines, including identification of sleep disorders such as RERA, hypopnea, and apnea

Requirements

• CPSGT required; RPSGT must be obtained within 18 months of acquiring CPSGT credential
• Current BLS required
• Associate's degree in Polysomnographic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred
• State license required if applicable

Additional Information

• Apply electrodes, belts, and sensors; perform bio-calibrations; and monitor polysomnograms throughout the study
• Split studies when criteria are met and provide therapy including oxygen, CPAP, and BiPAP per policy
• Stage and score sleep data by reviewing each epoch between lights off and lights on
• Document patient records, prepare patient notes, review physician orders, and complete billing within 24 hours of service
• Educate patients on oxygen and PAP therapy, including common side effects and relevant terminology
• Communicate with DME staff and Respiratory Therapists to ensure continuity of care and patient safety
• Assist in the teaching and mentoring of students and ancillary professionals
