American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Med/Surg position specializing in post-op GI and wound care, requiring at least 2 years of acute care experience and prior travel contract completion.

Details

• Med/Surg unit in an acute care hospital setting
• Specializes in post-operative GI and wound care patients
• Patient diagnoses include pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions/perforation, wound infections, post-op infections, esophageal perforation, GSW, MVC, and diverticulitis
• Specialized procedures include pancreatectomy, esophagectomy, Whipple, splenectomy, adrenalectomy, cystectomy, colectomy, thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hepatic resection, Nissen, bariatric surgery, TURP, gastrectomy, parathyroidectomy, and ex-lap
• Equipment used includes PEG, PEJ, PCA, peritoneal drains, JP drains, hemovac, wound vac, nephrostomy tubes, and ostomy care (ileostomy, colostomy, urostomy)
• Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active LA RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• All certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required
• Med/Surg and post-op unit experience required, with full-time post-op unit background
• At least one completed travel contract required for consideration
• Experience with surgical drains and ostomy care preferred

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside 65+ miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• RTO requests must be disclosed and discussed during the interview process
• Upon assignment, the unit manager may designate you to an emergency response team, requiring you to remain on-site or serve on a relief team during emergency events
• Candidates who are not comfortable with emergency team obligations should not apply for roles with this health system
