American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pre-Op position in an outpatient surgical center setting, requiring ACLS, PALS, and Epic experience with a Monday–Friday day shift schedule.

• Outpatient Surgical Center Pre-Op unit in an acute care hospital setting
• 15-bed unit serving a diverse surgical patient population including neuro, open heart, pediatric ENT, vascular, podiatry, orthopedic, general surgery, endoscopy, thoracic, and gynecological cases
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2 patient bays; float nurses also assist and may take patient assignments to support unit flow
• Charge nurse is patient-free; 2 nursing aides support the department, with one serving as a float aide
• Occasional ventilator management for pre-op patients
• Charting performed in Epic
• Monday–Friday day shift schedule; shift times rotate between 6:00 AM–2:00 PM (most common), 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, and 8:00 AM–4:00 PM (approximately 4 days/month each)
• The 8:00 AM–4:00 PM 'late' shift remains until the last patient goes to surgery
• 5 shifts of 8 hours per week; no self-scheduling, though up to 4 shift requests per month are accommodated
• No on-call or weekend requirements
• No holiday coverage required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active WV RN license or compact RN license required
• Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• IV therapy skills required
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms required
• Epic EMR experience strongly preferred

Additional Information

• This is a Pre-Op only position — not a PACU role; no Phase 1 or Phase 2 recovery responsibilities
• Duties may expand to include making endoscopy phone calls and traveling to the holding area to pre-op patients coming from inpatient floors, as part of standard outpatient surgery RN responsibilities
• Orientation is limited to the outpatient surgery department only
• Hospital-provided scrubs via scrub dispensing machine
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for a travel assignment
• Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before being considered; cumulative time worked within the WVU system cannot exceed one year before a 2-year break is required
• Submission profile must include 7 years of work history (or from graduation, whichever is less) with no gaps greater than 30 days, 2 references (at least 1 supervisor), a skills checklist completed within the past year, and copies of certifications and driver's license
• Candidates may only be submitted to one WVU facility at a time
