American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with Level I trauma experience for a 13-week assignment in a busy, Magnet-designated academic medical center OR serving a full range of surgical specialties.

Details

• Large Main OR with 21 suites covering all surgical specialties, including Trauma, Transplant, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, GU/GYN, and Robotics
• Level I Trauma Center, academic teaching hospital, Magnet-designated facility with 820 staffed beds
• Common cases include orthopedic (total joints, spine, trauma), neurosurgery (craniotomy, spine), ENT (flaps), robotics, transplants/procurements, trauma/burns, and GU/GYN
• Experience with Neuro (spine/craniotomy), ENT (flaps), and Robotics (da Vinci Xi) cases is highly preferred
• Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM, with a holiday rotation
• One working weekend shift required per month
• Up to 4 on-call shifts per 4-week period required
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities, may be required
• Charting is done in Epic
• Scrubs are provided by the facility

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of CST experience required
• Level I trauma center experience required
• NBSTSA CST certification required (NCCT certification is not accepted)
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• SC license required if applicable
• A radiation badge is required and must be provided by the agency
• Driver's license required for consideration
• SSN required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Candidates who have previously worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
• The facility prioritizes non-local candidates; local candidates within 60 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Online orientation modules are completed prior to the start date
• The OR team is composed of approximately 75% RNs (trained to both scrub and circulate) and 25% CSTs
• During hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
• Parking is available at the facility's designated garage with a one-time $20 registration fee for a hang tag; parking in other locations may incur additional fees
