Description

American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST/ORT) with at least 1 year of general surgery experience for a full-time, 13-week travel contract at a hospital surgical services department in Montana.

• Hospital general surgery department
• Day shift, 8-hour shifts, Monday through Friday with on-call requirements
• 40 hours per week, 5 days per week
• Full-time, 13-week contract
• Uses Epic for charting

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of surgical tech experience in general surgery required
• Completion of an accredited ORT program; OR graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past 6 months; OR 2 years of scrub tech experience in hospital or military surgical services within the last 3 years
• Active license required if applicable
• BLS certification from the AHA, must not expire prior to start date
• Active national certification as an ORT or CST preferred
• Demonstrated ability to maintain a sterile field and manage sterilization processes
• Experience with Epic EMR
• Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
• DOB and last 4 digits of SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Functions as a member of the surgical team under the supervision of an RN and reports to Surgical Services management
• Responsible for maintaining sterile fields, preparing the OR and instruments, and ensuring all surgical items meet sterilization criteria
• Assists surgeon(s) during procedures while remaining within ORT scope of practice
• Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety protocols
• Identifies emergency situations and exercises appropriate judgment in response
• Assists with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures
• May assist with sterile processing
• Candidates who are former permanent staff must have been separated from any facility in this health system for at least 1 year before being eligible for a travel assignment
