American Traveler is hiring an Echo Technologist with 2+ years of acute care experience for a 13-week assignment in an echocardiography department at a Level II Trauma Center in Tacoma, WA.

Details

• Echocardiography department at a Level II Trauma Center and Level IV NICU facility in Tacoma, WA
• Portable echo equipment used throughout the hospital — no dedicated echo suites
• Adult inpatient population with occasional outpatients; common cases include structural heart, pre/post cath, TEEs, CHF, CAD, pre/post TAVR, pre/post CABG, and shortness of breath presentations
• Average caseload of 8 echoes per 10-hour shift
• Procedures include general echo imaging, bubble studies, and Lumison (contrast) studies; OR structural cases and stress echoes are not performed
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• Equipment includes Philips Epiq Echo Machine and Astra Machine for scope processing
• 4x10-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM; schedule set in 6-week periods with 2 weeks advance notice
• On-call required approximately twice per week on average, any day of the week; call hours are 5:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Weekend rotation averages twice per 6-week schedule period
• May float to a partner facility approximately 9.5 miles away; float assignments are scheduled in advance
• Candidates should expect to be scheduled for approximately 50% of holidays during the contract

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of acute care echo experience required
• Current BLS required
• ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS) certification required
• License required if applicable
• Proficiency with general echo imaging, bubble studies, and Lumison contrast studies
• TEE experience preferred
• Experience with adult inpatient cardiac populations including structural heart, CHF, CAD, pre/post TAVR, and pre/post CABG cases
• Epic EMR experience required
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; the manager places high value on a positive, professional attitude and team-oriented personality
• One supervisor or above reference required for consideration; a second reference will be required prior to start

• Perform echocardiographic studies including general imaging, bubble studies, contrast studies, and TEEs at bedside using portable equipment
• Supported by a team of 4–5 echo techs per shift, a Team Lead, Manager, Cardiologists, Hospitalists, Intensivists, and Rapid Response Team; PerfectServe used for secure messaging
• Orientation includes facility new employee orientation (NEO) and 1–2 days of departmental orientation
• Call activations are based on a defined list of indications; a cardiologist order is required for cases outside those indications
• RTO requests go through the manager
