American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position in Florida, requiring 3-5 years of Level I Trauma ER experience and night shift availability.

Details

• Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma Center hospital in Florida
• Level I trauma patient population, including critical cases managed in the Trauma Bay
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 4:1 or 5:1 depending on area assignment
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Epic EMR experience required
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active FL or Compact RN license currently in hand
• Current certifications required: BLS and ACLS (both via AHA), TNCC, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — all must be current at time of consideration
• Minimum 3-5 years of Level I Trauma ER experience required
• Must be able to function independently caring for Level I trauma patients in the Trauma Bay
• Nursing degree from an accredited school, or from an institution approved by the Florida Board of Nursing (FBON) with at least 2 years of recent, consecutive acute care experience within the past 24 months in a US hospital
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must successfully complete a Florida AHCA Level 2 background screening, including fingerprint-based state and federal criminal history checks, abuse registry review, and screening for disqualifying offenses

Additional Information

• Provide independent emergency and trauma nursing care to a high-acuity Level I trauma patient population
• Basic Arrhythmia (EKG) assessment required — must pass with an overall Angoff score of 83% or greater, 100% in the lethal rhythm section, and 83% in all other sections
• Candidates who do not initially score 100% on lethal rhythms will have the opportunity to retake a dysrhythmia exam (Dysrhythmia Exam B) within 24 hours and must meet passing thresholds before starting their first shift
• Study guides and tips for the arrhythmia assessment are available through the facility's online orientation materials
• Proof of vaccination is required — declinations are not accepted
• Smoke-free facility
• Local candidates within a 60-mile radius are considered, though a different pay rate applies
• Candidates living outside the 60-mile radius are eligible for the standard travel rate
