American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with at least 2 years of experience and Level I trauma background for a 13-week assignment in a large academic, Magnet-designated Main OR in Charleston, SC.

Details

• Works in a 21-suite Main OR within a Level I trauma center, Magnet-designated, academic teaching hospital with 820 staffed beds
• Surgical specialties include Ortho (total joints, spine, trauma), Neuro (craniotomy, spine), ENT (flaps), Robotics, Transplants/Procurements, Trauma/Burns, and GU/GYN
• Candidates may be expected to staff the full variety of cases supported by the Main OR
• Neuro (spine/craniotomy), ENT (flaps), and Robotics (DaVinci Xi) experience is highly preferred
• The OR team consists of approximately 75% RNs and 25% CSTs; RNs are trained to both scrub and circulate
• Charting is performed in Epic
• Schedule is 3x12-hour day shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM), with up to 1 weekend shift (Saturday or Sunday) per month
• Up to 4 on-call shifts (end of shift through 7:00 AM) per month are required
• Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units or sister facilities, is required
• A radiation badge is required for this position and must be provided by the placing agency

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of CST experience required
• Level I trauma center experience required
• NBSTSA CST certification required (NCCT is not accepted by this facility)
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• South Carolina license required if applicable
• SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
• 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Previous permanent staff or PRN employees of the MUSC system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
• Candidates living within 60 miles of the facility are considered local; non-local candidates are prioritized, though local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• All RTO requests must be submitted at the time of consideration; approval is based on facility needs
• Required orientation modules are completed prior to the start of the assignment
• Scrubs are provided by the facility
• Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; peak activity months are August and September
• Parking is available at a designated garage for a one-time $20 registration fee for a hang tag; additional fees may apply if parking outside of the designated garage
