American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist for a travel CVOR position requiring CVOR experience and a minimum of 2 years of Neurosurgery experience.

• Hospital-based Surgical Services/General Surgery unit within a Level II Trauma Center
• 13-week travel assignment
• Full-time schedule with 4 days per week at 10 hours per shift
• Shift hours from 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM
• Setting includes a full range of surgical specialty services including cardiac, cancer, and stroke care
• Academic teaching facility affiliated with a university health science center

Requirements

• CVOR experience required
• Minimum of 2 years of Neurosurgery experience required
• Experience in General, Ortho, Plastics, Uro, ENT, and Vascular surgery preferred
• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program required
• 2 or more years of experience preferred
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Certified Surgical Technologist credential or LVN/LPN License required
• License required if applicable
• Proficiency scrubbing in at least 3 specialty areas such as Transplants, Open Heart, Urology, Neurology, Titanium Rib, or Robotics highly preferred

Additional Information

• Assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients including skin preparation per hospital standards
• Maintain aseptic technique and actively monitor for potential breaches
• Transport and position patients according to type of surgery
• Identify and care for biological specimens
• Prepare the OR by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to case type
• Establish and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments and sutures to the physician, and assist as directed
• Use and maintain physician preference cards for case setup
• Work effectively as part of the surgical care team and cooperate in team planning and execution
• Maintain a safe environment through proper technical and aseptic practices
• Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and personal safety
• Monitor and control the surgical environment including traffic control, dress code, and OR sanitation policies
• Familiarity with facility policies regarding decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies
• Adapt patient care approaches to meet population-specific and developmental needs
• First-time travelers may be considered
• Returning employees who previously worked at a CHRISTUS facility must have a 6-month separation period before starting a new travel assignment
