American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital General Surgery unit, requiring CST or LVN/LPN licensure and BLS certification.

• Hospital-based General Surgery OR unit
• 13-week travel assignment on an evening shift from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
• Full-time schedule

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program required
• 2+ years of experience preferred
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Certified Surgical Technologist or LVN/LPN license required
• License required if applicable
• Proficiency scrubbing in 3 specialty areas such as transplants, open heart, urology, neurology, titanium rib, or robotics highly preferred

Additional Information

• Perform technical duties assisting in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients
• Prepare patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards
• Maintain aseptic technique and actively monitor for potential breaches
• Provide comfort and support to pre-operative patients with sensitivity to privacy and care
• Transport patients to and from the OR suite and position them according to procedure type
• Identify and care for biological specimens
• Set up OR tables, instruments, and supplies according to case type using physician preference cards
• Keep physician preference cards updated and complete
• Establish and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments and sutures to the physician, and assist as directed
• Work collaboratively as part of the surgical care team
• Maintain a safe environment through technical and aseptic practices
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment
• Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for patient and personal safety
• Maintain proper traffic control, dress code, and OR sanitation policies
• Follow facility policies regarding decontamination, processing, and sterilization of instruments and supplies
• Adapt patient care approaches to meet population-specific and developmental needs
• Returning employees who have previously worked at any CHRISTUS facility must be separated for 6 months before starting a new travel assignment
