American Traveler seeks an OR Tech First Assistant with 3-4 years of experience and cardiovascular/vascular surgery expertise for a Level I trauma center position.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting including Acute Inpatient OR, CVOR, and Outpatient OR
• Average daily caseload of 8 cases
• Day shift schedule, 4x10 hours from 6:15 AM to 4:45 PM
• Call rotation required 1-2 times per week and every 3-4 weekends
• Weekend on-call rotation runs from Friday 4:45 PM through Monday 6:15 AM, occurring once every 3-4 weeks
• Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
• Cerner charting system used, experience preferred

Requirements

• 3-4 years of experience required as an OR First Assistant
• BLS certification required, ACLS preferred
• AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
• License required if applicable
• Teaching hospital and Level I/II Trauma experience required
• Experience in Acute Inpatient OR, CVOR, and Outpatient OR settings required
• Surgery case experience required in Cardiac, General, Thoracic, and Vascular procedures
• Cardiovascular experience required including CABG, Mitral Valve replacement, and Pericardial window
• Vascular experience required including AAA repair, AV fistula repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, Femoral popliteal bypass graft, and Vein stripping
• Endoscopic procedure experience required including Bronchoscopy, EGD, Laparoscopic assisted cases, and PEG tube placement/exchange
• Trauma experience required including amputations and gunshot/stab wounds
• Equipment experience required with Case Cart, Drills, Electrosurgical Units, and Fiber optic light sources/cords
• Proficiency in aseptic technique, isolation precautions, and laser safety required
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
• Candidates with a pending license may be accepted
• Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
• RTO ideally limited to no more than 5 non-holiday days
• Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Scrubs provided by the unit
• Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated facility
• Facility does not accept travel pairs
• Housing in the area may be difficult to secure
• First day of assignment is a virtual, at-home orientation requiring completion of assigned modules by 4:00 PM CST
